Planting a Tree at the End of the World
Those of us who study Age of Limits issues can sometimes feel a sense of hopelessness — we can all too easily fall into John Bunyan’s ‘Slough of Despond’. Yet, we need to remind ourselves that these are enormously complex issues that no one can fully understand.
With that thought in mind, the following quotation from the Prophet Muhammad is worth keeping in mind.
If the Hour (the Day of Judgment) is about to occur and one of you has a palm shoot in his hand, which he can cultivate before the Hour occurs, let him do so.
The following quotation, which is on the same lines, has been attributed to followers of Martin Luther.
If I believed the world were to end tomorrow, I would still plant a tree today.
A secular version of these quotations is,
The best time to plant a tree was 30 Years Ago. The second best time to plant a tree is now.
