Amen 🙏🏻 btw to Gus’ list I would add irrationality and eager self-delusion. All of the above are hardwired into us to such a degree than I can’t imagine imagine a viable culture overcoming them.

I run a blog called Net Zero by 2050: Technology for a Changing Climate at https://netzero2050.substack.com/. I also wrote a draft of a book with the same title. The blog is still active, but the focus has changed.

My analysis convinced me that we cannot get to Net Zero in such a short period of time (at least, without a catastrophic economic crash). The scale-up problems are too severe. And new technologies such as Carbon Capture & Sequestration will require fossil fuels to manufacture the immense amounts of steel and concrete that will be needed.

As I say in the post, a completely new way of thinking is required.

Hi, Ian. Nice post, but a small correction. The words you attribute to Colin Campbell from my "Cassandra's Legacy" blog are not his -- they are a personal interpretation of mine of the failure of the "Peak Oil Movement" -- I think Colin would agree with that, too, if he were still with us. He always said that the movement should have folded out after the peak, because it would have no purpose anymore. U.

BTW, the misinterpretation is probably my fault because of how I presented the post. It looked like it was written by Colin Campbell. I'll adjust the post to make it clear who is the author.
